Always Changing
E6) Well that was quite someting. I'm done with this season in Alaska. It was inredible, a life changing experience. So much so that mid season, even though I was getting up at 5am to report to work and having to pretip in the freezing cold of the early morning, I knew that I had found my calling. The season in Skagway Alaska ended on October 1st, from there I road tripped back with a friend down the Cassiar, to Jasper and Banff, Glacier National Park, and Yellowstone, and finally back to Oregon. From there I had 5 days at home and then was off yet again! This time I was off to San Fransisco to attend ITMI (The International Tourism Management Institute) to become a certified international Tour Director. Right after that I was back home in Oregon and took a job driving with UPS. I reached my financial goal and here we are. I'm looking forward to Symposium (a conference put on by ITMI for their graduates) and hopefully getting some excellent opportunities. Directly after that I will be spending 10 days in Colorado. I know many people didn't enjoy 2016, I really did and I look forward to 2017, it will be an adventure for sure.

E5) A new adventure is taking form. I will be living in Alaska for 6 months to be a tour guide in Skagway! I will be a bus driving guide. I'm pretty excited to see the last frontier. After I return I will be in Oregon for a short time and then will either be getting an RV to travel with for a bit of time or going to San Diego or LA, unless some other opportunity presents itself.

E4) Try as I did, Portland just didn't work. I moved back to Corvallis and have a good job at MECOP Inc. I'm planning on being here a year and then venturing off again. This next time I hope it works better. I'm planning on moving somewhere warm and where I can do more with recreation as that's what I really care about. Recently, I've been trying to figure out what career I want. My mentor told me to do whatever it is that I'm passionate about which is sports. My plan is to become a sailing instructor, then Director, then either start my own Sailing tourism business or some sort of sport tourism. Maybe boating to amazing climbing and biking places? Not sure, we shall see. I still also need to fit my great grandparents property in there as well... Oh and I almost forgot; I'm going to be the coach for the OSU Sailing Team!
I'm also increasingly interested in the idea of a tiny home. To me, it seems like a logical step. I don't know where I'll be or end up and currently it's just me. (maybe a cat soon?) With my increasing interest, I did something a little silly; On my way down to sailing every Thursday night there is a very nice looking tiny house out in the country side. I've been curious about it for a long time and always stretch my neck out to see it better as I zip by at 60 MPH. Now, of course, at 60 MPH you don't much more than a glimpse so I figured why not just send them a letter asking about their experience and attitude about the tiny house they live in. With no more information than where approximately it was I took to Google Maps and tracked down the address like a creeper, bought a lovely card, and sent it yesterday in the mail. I'm excited to see what happens with it, if anything.
I'm sure whoever it is that gets it (it's addressed to the tiny house dweller) will be mixed with excitement that someone took the time to track down their address and then send them a letter, but there's also part of them that is a little leery of some random person doing said things. To *hopefully* easy their apprehension I added in my business card with this site on it. If you are said Tiny House Dweller I really would love to hear what you think about your experience with it, from researching, buying/creating, downsizing/adjusting, to fully living, if that in fact is what is happening. E3) So another update is needed. I now live in Vancouver Washington, yes that's right, I'm a Washingtonian. On the plus side I'm saving at least $100 per month and no income tax is pretty nice. The drive is pretty easy and it doesn't keep me from doing my activities and seeing friends in Portland.
I'm also thinking more and more about tiny homes and the tiny home movement. As a 20 something, it seems like a nice concept to be able to have a house that is mine and embodies my style, but is also able to go with me. It's also a nice way to live mortgage free or rent free, especially because most rent is equivalent in cost to a mortgage payment. I have already designed an initial floor plan and want to look into the community in Portland. Ultimately I would love to make a Tiny Home community, though there is a lot to learn before I can really try to make that happen. Feb. 24th, 2015
E2) I have noticed that since reading this last entry that it is rather old and outdated. Thus I'm making new entries that are now labeled. They will also have a posted date on them at the end just to see how often I do not write on the main page.... Currently I'm living in Portland in the Irvington neighborhood, which is a very lovely area. It's characterized by large classic houses, each a little different and from the early 20th century. Think, between 1910 and 1940s. The house I'm living in was built in the 40s, I believe, and is quite lovely with hardwood floors, original windows and quite a lot of space. My roommates, whom I found on craigslist are excellent human beings, both male, and as nice and as funny as could be. The house is also inhabited by Fry, my roommate Evan's cat. Fry is an excellent feline, feisty, cuddly at times, and totally lovable. She also, I fear, is quite obese. I've been secretly plotting to manage her food intake better, but it's not really my place. E1) Well life has changed quite a bit, for those of you who are new to this blog; I was just in China for 6 months. I was there working at a University as an English professor. The plan was to be there for the whole year, but if I have learned anything from life it is that plans change. Needless to say that is exactly what occurred. While I was on my winter break (back here in the states) I was informed, that because, I did not have two years of prior teaching I could not get a work visa to enter back into the country. While on winter break I tried to be a smart traveler and naturally did not pack my entire life back home with me. So now half of my things are forever gone in China. Le sigh. But every low only makes ever high a bit higher.
Lastly I would like to create a co-op to live in. It doesn't need to be in Corvallis necessarily but I would want it to be for those who are either in Grad school or are working. Think of it as a 20/30 club where those who are actually young in Corvallis can have a place to meet others who are as well. I think I will look into the business development group to see what they say about it and if they have any business related advise for me. It would be an excellent way to bring in some extra dough too.
